What is your book about?

Menopause is a natural and normal process, yet is often treated as a medical condition! I believe if you are experiencing symptoms it’s your body’s way of telling you something is out of alignment. This is typically related to stress, diet, beliefs, and disconnection from who you are as a woman. My aim is to give information to help make informed treatment decisions and to offer practical tips and practices to look after your body, mind, emotions and spirit. This book is for all women who want to feel healthy, joyful and full of vitality no matter what their age and to help prevent and reduce menopausal symptoms.

What inspired you to write your book?

I struggled for many years with menopausal symptoms due to treatment for endometriosis, followed by a hysterectomy at 40, throwing me into full blown menopause. I found conventional treatments did not work and went in search of finding things that worked and I wanted to share with other women what took me years to find out, so that they don’t have to suffer as I did.

I was also told as a child that I would never become a writer and I now know I’m dyslexic. I wanted to prove to myself I could do it. I started with newsletters and these got a good response so it gave me the confidence to give it a go.

Can you describe your writing process?

Except for when I have to do some research, my writing comes from within me and feels like a download from my soul. When I was writing this book, these downloads would often occur in the middle of the night, so I was often writing on my tablet in the dark at 4 a.m. I would then go weeks with nothing. However, today I use a meditation and meditative music and can write on demand.

How did you come to do what you’re doing today?

From an early age I always wanted to make people better, and initially trained as a nurse. My own health issues, followed by the death of my husband from leukemia, sent me on a journey of discovery into alternative health and a degree in psychology. I then trained as a counsellor, but my preference is in helping people move forward in their lives and switched to coaching. I now bring together all I have learned from my professional training and personal experience to help others rediscover health, vitality, and joy in their lives.
Last year I was introduced to a product that allows the body to heal itself and so have added relationship marketing to the mix of what I do.

Can you describe a typical day in your life?

There is no typical day in my life. I love that it is so varied and I can travel and take courses and still see clients over Zoom or Skype. Most days start with a meditation, 20-30 minutes of exercise before breakfast, and then a walk with my dog. I may then be on calls with my relationship marketing business team, going to network meetings, seeing clients, or working on marketing and admin.

I love learning, so I nearly always have some sort of training underway and I try to cram in writing my next book in between it all.

What do you most enjoy about what you do?

The variety. I get to help, support, and inspire others to be healthy, joyful, and full of vitality so they, in turn, can fulfil their dreams.

Are there any people and/or books that have inspired you along your journey?

Rachael Jayne Groover, Louise Hay, and Brendon Burchard.

I am an avid reader, especially of self-help books, and many have inspired me in different ways. Some of my favorites are Life’s Golden Ticket by Brendon Burchard, Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert, and Dying to Be Me by Anita Moorjani.

Can you share something that people may be surprised to learn about you?

I’m now 57 and feel healthier, more radiant, and have more energy than any other time in my adult life.

What’s next for you?

I’m in the process of writing two more books. One based on a past life and another on aging healthily.

I’m also putting together a course for women struggling with menopause to accompany my book Beyond Hot and Crazy.
